This depends on how you make music. Many people play
music in using a MIDI keyboard. This is a quick and efficient way of
inputting music into your music program. There are many low-cost MIDI
keyboard controllers using USB connectors that are available today (see
AKAI, Yamaha or M-Audio keyboards)that are affordable.
There are also other ways of inputting. Some prefer to "mouse-in" notes in a notation program such as Finale or Sibelius. This is quite time-consuming but some prefer this method and achieve good results. And there are alternative controllers that could be used, like the AKAI EWI USB wind controller where you can play your notes in much like a sax player.
