What kind of computer setup is required?

The following table lists the computer and hardware requirements for using any ARIA product. You can use your ARIA product on most any modern personal computer that meets the specifications listed below.

Both the ARIA and the Kontakt audio engine are designed to make use of the processing power of your computer and work best on modern CPUs.

a Dual G5 should give you OK performance. Anything under that is depending on your task. You cant surely be expecting a 100 voice orchestra on a G4 1.25Mhz. As far as we are concerned G4's are not covered for support.

We recommend the following:

  • 2.8 Ghz CPU Pentium 4 or better for PC, Any Dual Core Mac Intel is more than enough for Mac.
  • 2 GB RAM Recommended
  • Hard drive space will depend on the library - up to 4 Gigabyes for GPO, JABB, CoMB and Steinway Basic; up to 67GB for Steinway Pro.
  • Hard drive speed of at least 7200 RPM and directly connected to the computer (no hub)
  • Internet connection for the download version of any Garritan library or Steinway Basic, DVD ROM drive required for any boxed version installation.
  • Monitor with 1,024 x 768 resolution or better
  • A sound card compatible with ASIO, DirectSound, MME or CoreAudio on OS X
  • MIDI: A MIDI interface may be required if you are using a MIDI keyboard (88-key full-sized MIDI keyboard recommended for Steinway). Some keyboards use USB. A keyboard with Mod Wheel is recommended.
  • High quality speakers and amplifier, or high quality headphones
  • Internet connection for updates and online registration

The stated requirements represent minimum guidelines for the Standalone Garritan Aria Player. If you
are using the Garritan Personal Orchestra within a host music program, then there may be other additional
resource requirements. Please also observe the system requirements of your host application,
notation program and/or sequencing program if applicable. The demands of various other processing
software (including the sequencer, audio and effects processors, other plug-ins, and so on) can affect
functionality.
